Application:

Often called coax for short, coaxial cables are a must-have for transmitting audio/video and broadband signals.

Getting the right type matters a lot if you want to send and receive data over distance without losing too much

signal strength along the way. The four main types you'll come across are RG6, RG58, RG59, and RG11.

 

RG59 is skinnier than RG6 and really only shines in short-distance, low-frequency indoor setups. It'll carry video,

TV, and CCTV signals same as RG6, but don't swap one for the other. The conductor inside RG59 is smaller than

RG6's, so you get poorer signal quality, it only performs well at lower frequencies, and you'll lose more signal

along the way. Plus, RG59 won't work for broadband at all.
